Despite all the ads, the political rhetoric, and recipe videos
that make me hungry even though I’ve just eaten, I love Facebook. It has provided me with a venue to keep in
touch with people that would otherwise have slipped out of my life forever. Because
of Facebook, yesterday a friend that I hadn’t seen in fifteen years and I met
up to do a bit of shopping and just spend a day catching up with each other. Within minutes we were laughing and carrying
on as if we’d seen each other every day for the last fifteen years. In fact, we
were so busy laughing, we missed a turn and ended up ‘lost’ on our way to the
shopping extravaganza that we’d been invited to via Facebook. Luckily all we
had to do was open Facebook on my phone, click on the address and the phone
started talking to us, telling us to turn around, and then step by step, told
us how to get where we needed to go—interrupting our laughing now and again to
remind us the next turn was coming up.
We happened to drive past Paisley Park, and of course
stopped to walk the fence line and see all the memorials people have left for
Prince. Some were utterly amazing. As were the people, including a women who had
flown in from L.A. that morning to pay her own tribute to him.
Later, (after the shopping extravaganza that left us filling
her car with deals that were too good to be true) we ventured on to find a
wonderful little café and shared a lovely meal and browsed the sidewalk sales
going on in the area. Needless to say, it was a fabulous day that happened
because of Facebook.
I also appreciate how Facebook allows me to share writing
news, both on my page and my Author page. Yesterday, I shared the cover art for
my next release Unwrapping the Rancher’s Secret. I love this cover! And yes, it’s a Christmas story. Another thing I
love to read and write.
Today I’ll spend some time working on my next WIP about a
blacksmith who wants a wife and a mail order bride who has promised to wed the
town’s mayor. Then I have to get busy with prep work for tomorrow. We are
hosting Bear’s birthday party. Our amazing granddog turned nine last Sunday, so
all the kids, grandkids, and granddogs will be over to celebrate.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend, and if you are browsing
Facebook, stop by and say hi!
Cheers!
